Beyond Monuments offers customized tours for history-loving visitors to the Washington DC area. If you have already ridden the bus, followed the tour guides, seen the monuments and the big museums, walked the Mall and strolled through the Capitol, we offer the opportunity to explore lesser known places and spaces of historical importance in a safe, small group setting.

We will build an itinerary around your interests and show you the places where Lincoln spent his time in Washington, where key Civil Rights events unfolded, where Churchill left his mark, and, where assassins attempted to steer history.​

Meet Your Guide

​Janet Osborn grew up in historic Bucks County Pennsylvania, completed her undergraduate degree from the College of William & Mary, and has lived in the Washington DC area for 35 years. She is currently pursuing a Masters in History from George Mason University with a concentration in American History. She enjoys touring national cemeteries looking for graves of Medal of Honor winners (Arlington, Alexandria, Vicksburg, Gettysburg, Antietam, Sitka, Normandy, Natchez, Meuse-Argonne, so far) and numbers among her proudest accomplishments the memorization of the Gettysburg Address. Your tour includes breakfast and lunch, transportation and admission to all sites. Fees are based on itinerary and start at $100 per person. Groups are limited to six. Payment can be made by Zelle. On this tour, we will go beyond the memorial to explore and experience sites where Lincoln walked, slept, wrote, worshiped, and experienced the years of his presidency.

On this tour, we will trace the history of Presidential assassination attempts in Washington, which are far more numerous than most visitors realize.​
